Books That Have Shaped Us and Will Shape You Too

We are at a time in history where reading and meditating deeply is unfortunately dwindling. At Garden City, we believe learning is an important rhythm of a growing disciple. Next to reading the Scriptures, we believe it is important to listen to and engage with other Christian thinkers and practitioners who have spent their lives in pursuit of their area of expertise. We have learned to be better followers of Jesus from these brothers and sisters. Although we do not agree with everything each writer expounds in every section of their work, we do recommend these books for thoughtful consideration. Some of these have made us re-think what the bible actually teaches not just what Christians say it says. Some have given us language and vision for our most deeply held dreams for the church. And even so, some have made us throw them across the room, only to pick them up again and learn how to engage with other Jesus followers from different traditions. They have profoundly shaped us and will shape you as well.
